General information.

Why do I need an allegy test done ??

some dogs can have a reaction to many different aspects in their life’s, for example, pollen, dust mites and grass, they can also have a reaction to different food sources, so to save time , it is best to get an allergy test done,  that way i can devise a meal plan for your dog that doesn’t include the foods they will have a reaction too, and not only that it is handy to know for your own benefit as the test is not just for food intolerances.

The test s completed by "the natural medicine man" and is done with a sample of your dog’s hair. The price for this test is £35.00, and if you dog is suffering for any ailments they will also receive a herbal remedy to re balance their body. Of course you do not have to have this test done and can buy a nutrition package without it.

Tests may take up to 21 days to arrive.

How quickly will we see results with diet, training and behaviour?

The behaviour and training sessions may produce results very quickly, but often it will take time, effort and commitment from all the family to produce the improved behaviour. The techniques and information given must be followed in full to gain maximum results. Always remember that your dog’s current problems may have developed over a long period of time. Following your consultation further advice is available by phone and email as you progress.

Diet plans, like behaviour can have imidiate changes or changes overtime, most dogs will show signs of change quickly and you will start to notice improvements within the first few weeks to month, depending on the dogs isses of course. Again, sticking to the plan is vital for improvements to occur, and the whole household must be commited.

Is this something that my pet insurance may cover?

Consultation fees are fully or partly covered by some insurance policies. Make sure you check with your insurance provider before your consultation.

When is payment due?

Payment is due before the consultation and should be sent with your completed questionnaire and vet referral form. This can be by cheque, paypal or bank transfer ,Cheques should be made payable to Happy healthy hounds. For bank transfer please request details

. Payment can be made on the day of the consultation (cash only) for one to one training sessions, or if previously discussed and agreed by Debbie.

Cancellation charges will apply for pre booked sessions that are cancelled within 24 hours, and will be charged at 50% of the total cost (not being refunded) If you are being covered by your insurance and they are paying Happy healthy hounds directly then you will need to have your part of the claim form filled in and sent with the questionnaire and vet referral and the cost of your excess enclosed (or given in cash on the day with claim form)  if this is the case.

What happens during the nutrition consultation?

Consultations take place in your own home, diet is discussed and any questions you have will be answered to the best of my knowledge, your dogs health and lifestyle will be taken into account as well as your budget, time and commitment levels if an exercise plan is required.

A 4 week diet plan will have been made up by Debbie prior to her arrival, using information you provided in the questionnaire, and fully explained step by step as well as any added supplements and how and when to feed your dog its new diet. The raw starter booklet will be explained fully and you will receive your box of food to get you started within a stated time frame, if required I will return when the food arrives (if it has been sent after visit) and assist with any queries you have and feeding (this will be for half an hour and will be no added charge)

What about travel costs?

All packages are inclusive of travel costs between Peterhead and Stonehaven, travel beyond these places is charges at 20p per mile, return trip.

I'm more than willing to travel further afield, for example Dundee, Glasgow etc, this would not be charged at 20p per mile, instead this would be charged at the prices of a return train ticket with a time of my choosing, or a flat rate of £50.00, which ever works out cheapest on the day.

Are there any discounts Available ?

10% discount is available on all packages for dogs rehomed from registered rescues within 12 weeks of booking an appointment, (proof of this is required)

Registered kennels and Rescue centres can benefit from a 50% discount should they require my services.

People claiming benefits will be offered a 20% discount on all packages (proof required for this)

Behaviour and training rules & techniques

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WHAT SO EVER will I train a dog that is wearing a choke chain, prong collar, electric collar or other abusive device. All dogs being trained by me will be required to wear a flat collar or a harness, martingale collars are allowed but only if they have been fitted properly.

Should your dog exhibit extreme aggressive tendencies and not be safe to other humans or dogs, then a basket muzzle (one where the dog can still pant, take treats and drink) will be used, if your dog has never wore one of these then desensitising techniques will be used before any training is administered so as the dog feels comfortable.

No adverse training “tools” will be used, items such as spray bottles, noise tools etc will NEVER be uses as these do more damage than good.

I do not believe in training a dog with fear ,punishment or force, and will not condone such practices. All training is made fun, simple and positive for the dog and owner, good behaviours are rewarded and mistakes are ignored. No dog is set up to fail in order to be trained or a behaviour corrected; this is not training a dog!

Outdated training techniques and notions will not be tolerated, only up to date, positive, science based and tested techniques will be used while I am helping your dog.

I expects all clients to treat their dogs with respect and not to intimidate or harm them.

Clients looking for  someone to show them how to be "pack leader" or dominate their dog / show them who is boss, please refrain from calling for my assistance as this is not how I work.
