About

After trying to fight my way through all the different information out there on canine feeding / health and wellbeing, I got hooked...well, actually it was more of an obsession ha-ha, and I  set about studying canine behaviour and nutrition so I could help not only my two dogs, but other people and their four legged friends through the minefield that is doggy nutrition! With so many different brands of food and information out there it really is a confusing subject knowing what’s best for your pet, manufacturers will have you believing all sorts!

I now have diplomas and advanced diplomas in canine behaviour and nutrition through compass education and the animal care college, and I am currently undertaking more courses, and always on the lookout for others so I can always have the most up to date knowledge on the subjects.

Before taking the plunge and opening up "Happy Healthy Hounds" I have helped several people with their four legged friends diets, all of which have been a great success, some of these can be found in the gallery section of the website.

I specialise in species appropriate diets...in other words a raw diet of meat, bones and offal. Although there are some good brands of commercial food out there, they are few and far between,  nothing beats them having the diet nature intended, and one that their body is equipped to process without putting added strain on your dog.

A raw diet has a wealth of benefits for your dog’s health, wellbeing and behaviour.

The foundation of raw diets for canines is that dogs are carnivores that require quality sources of animal protein & fats in order to live a long and healthy life. Perhaps the greatest advantage of a raw food diet, is the supply of quality, unaltered protein sources that the diet provides. When your dog does not get enough animal protein/amino acids as part of his diet, or there is an imbalance of nutrients, a variety of health consequences can occur, feeding a varied raw diet provides your dog with all the proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals it needs...a truly complete and balanced meal.

It can be quite scary taking the plunge to raw feeding, and it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, I fully understand this, and I am available to help and assist with commercial dog food diets,  so please do get in touch with any enquiries you have or to book an appointment.

I'm Debbie, I have a passion for all things dog, especially when it comes to their diet and health! After years of trying to help my 2 fur buddies with their allergies, dull, flaky coats and behaviour issues, I whittled a lot of it down to their diet! I was un-knowingly pumping them full of carbohydrate, cereal laden foods with cheap fillers, sugars and additives, which in turn was effecting their health, wellbeing and behaviour.
